Notre Dame, Ind - As if yesterday's loss was not hard enough to endure, Notre Dame took a major blow today when Arnaz Battle learned he broke his left wrist and could miss the rest of the season. This is a huge loss since Notre Dame has no other quarterbacks who have taken a college snap. Gary Godsey is listed as the backup quarterback because he has more practice experience. He cannot execute the option like any of the freshman however.
This leaves Notre Dame in the worst possible situation going into the Purdue game. Notre Dame now has no experienced quarterback and will be forced to pass since Purdue will jam the line to stuff the run. We will have more on this later as this news has just broke. Check back for some articles on how we think should start and articles on what this means for Notre Dame's season.
On a side note, I can't help but feel terrible for Arnaz. He waited 2 years for his shot. He got it and beat A&M week one then played courageously considering the injury he sustained. Hopefully he will be able to get an additional year for medical hardship, but who knows.
Other Injuries
Joey Getherall suffered a back injury but should play against Purdue. Javin Hunter
had a sensational catch called back suffered a concussion but will play against Purdue.
The bad news is on Grant Irons. Irish Eyes (part of the ND Super Site) reports that Grant is done for the
year. Nebraska beat Notre Dame on the field, and might have killed their season with
the injuries they inflicted.
