Notre Dame, IN (UHND) – So much for the thought that recruits this year would be applying a wait and see approach with Notre Dame after last season’s 3-9 debacle. Notre Dame picked up their 6th and 7th commitments of the year this week when linebacker Dan Fox and offensive guard Alex Bullard committed to Charlie Weis and the Irish. Both prospects carry four star ratings from Rivals.com and bolster what is already shaping up to be a very promising recruiting class. (more…)

Notre Dame, IN (UHND) – In writing last week’s column on expectations for the upcoming season something dawned on me – since 1999 it’s been feast or famine for the Irish when it comes to on field success. Coming on the heels of 3-9 last season, it’s safe to say that some middle ground is exactly what Irish fans are looking for in 2008. … Click here to read the rest of this article

Notre Dame, IN (UHND.com) – This time of year most college football fans will sit back and let themselves imagine elaborate scenarios in which their teams can challenge for the national championship this season. Most of the time those scenarios are farfetched and only serve as a source of disappointment when their team “under achieves” the following season. After Notre Dame finished the 2007 season a dreadful 3-9, you will be hard pressed to find a fan of the Fighting Irish predicting a national championship, but what are the realistic expectations for the Irish in Charlie Weis’s fourth year? … Click here to read the rest of this article

Notre Dame vs. Alabama? Make it Happen

Frank Vitovitch - posted on May 18, 2008 under Football

Notre Dame, IN (UHND) - Last summer Alabama head coach Nick Saban created a little buzz when he told local reporters that he would love to get the Fighting Irish on the schedule of the Crimson Tide. The notion was dismissed a few days later, but the idea of the two college football giants meeting on the field for the first time since 1987 hasn’t died and should an agreement to play materialize, the real winners will be the fans of both schools. … Click here to read the rest of this article

Notre Dame, IN (UHND) – Charlie Weis had planned to visit with Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer between Signing Day and the start of spring practice.
