2009 Home Kickoff Times Announced

Here are the official kickoff times for all of the 2009 home football games.

  • Sept. 5 – NEVADA 3:30 p.m. EDT
  • Sept. 19 – MICHIGAN STATE 3:30 p.m. EDT
  • Oct. 3 – WASHINGTON 3:30 p.m. EDT
  • Oct. 17 – USC 3:30 p.m. EDT
  • Oct. 24 – BOSTON COLLEGE 3:30 p.m. EDT
  • Oct. 31 – WASHINGTON STATE 7:30 p.m. EDT (San Antonio, Texas)
  • Nov. 7 – NAVY 2:30 p.m. EST
  • Nov. 21 – CONNECTICUT 2:30 p.m. EST

Am I the only one that really doesn’t like the 2:30/3:30 start times for games?  The mid afternoon start times make it difficult to get much done before kickoff and by the time the NBC telecasts are over, it’s already 7:00 here on the East Coast.

Anyway, this is at least a better lineup of home games than last year when the only marquee opponent was Michigan.

  1. From what I remember, ND did not want people partying all day and then have to drive late at night, or something along those lines, as their reason for banning home night games – does it really make a difference if that would take place in South Bend or Texas? I wish they would make an exception for at least the USC or UM game

I was there at the Michigan game at night in 90.
    Oh yeah!
    Student section
    with band
    North endzone
    balmy comfortable
nearly 24 Michigan students with us ( why?)
Irish down by 10 in 4rth quarter!
1:44 left Irish score winning TD
    Irish win 28-24
    Stunned Michigan fans
obnoxious, drunk swearing all through the game
    in our face
    ND fans say nothing
    until—— the WIN!
    The crowd at night was
    ON FIRE!
Standing up at the beginning of the 4rth to call the guys on when down by 10
    I remember EVERY detail!
    Incredible!
    Couldn’t sleep for 2 days!
    ND winning at night!
    Oh yeah!

  3. i heard weis likes the early kickoffs. it seems like the night games only tend to pop up when we’re away.

i personally think it’d be a good idea to get a night game or two in at home just so that the routine isnt so different when we head west for usc or whomever

  4. Is there any possibility of a primetime home game in the near future? That would be very exciting, especially for us students.

  5. George,

I think my problem is too much prioritization. I always get concerned that whatever I want to do will cut into the game that more often than not I just push it off. I’d love it if all our games kicked off by 1:00, but that will never happen because of ND’s national fan base.

  6. Frank,
You need to prioritize my friend. Get your business done BEFORE game time. For me there is nothing more important than Notre Dame Saturday. I have all my business and matters done WAY before game time. Get it done Fankie……prioritize, prioritize, prioritize!
