Notre Dame improved to 7-0 after defeating BYU in South Bend in a close contest 17-14. Notre Dame faced a tough defense in BYU who had only given up less than 70 yards rushing on the ground. On this day, Notre Dame’s trio of running backs combined for 270 yards. Theo Riddick had a career high 143 yards while Cierre Wood added 114 and George Adkinson III  had 13 and added a rushing  touchdown.

Coach Brian Kelly’s chose to start Tommy Rees after freshman starter Everett Golson suffered a concussion in last week’s game against Stanford.  Rees threw for 117 yards and had one touchdown and one INT.  Rees also had a favorite target as he threw to captain Tyler Eifert who caught four passes for 73 and a touchdown.

Despite missing two field goals and giving up two touchdowns in the  first half, Notre Dame was able to wake up the echoes in the second half creating a turnover (BYU had two on the day including an INT grabbed by Manti Te’o) to finish strong and come away with the victory.
Notre Dame had 389 yards of total offense as they continue their winning ways. Notre Dame is 7-0 on the season first time since 2002 and face their toughest opponent to date as they take on the 9th ranked Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Ok. ESPN “College Game Day” is said to be at this game. Game time for the Irish is set for next Saturday at 8/7c.
