Notre Dame is going to have a few more hours than originally thought to try to get back in the win column this weekend. The Notre Dame – Boston College game was scheduled to kick off at noon on Saturday at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, but it was announced on Sunday that the start time for the game has been moved to 3:30.
The ACC also announced that Clemson and Louisville – which will be the site for ESPN’s College Gameday – will move from 3:30 to 8:00 to be in primetime. With Clemson and Louisville out of the 3:30 time slot, apparently the ACC wanted to get the Notre Dame and Boston College game in that time slot to take its place. The game will now also be televised on ESPN.
Notre Dame has actually been pretty good in noon kickoffs over the last few years so from a sports fan paranoia standpoint, it would have have been nice for the game to start at noon. For the sake of freeing up the late afternoon and evening for east coast fans, the rare noon kickoff for Notre Dame would have been nice as well, but the 3:30 start shouldn’t be problematic for the Irish who are used to starting the majority of their home games at 3:30.
Luckily the game wasn’t moved to primetime as well to make this game even bigger for Boston College than it already is. A night game for Boston College could have created a bowl game environment for the Eagles and the last two times Notre Dame has played night games in Boston, the games have been much closer than they should have been.
Notre Dame will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing effort last night against Georgia. The Irish lost 19-20 in a game in which the vaunted Irish offensive line was pushed around by the Georgia defensive line all night long. Notre Dame will be coming into this contest with Boston College looking to reestablish the dominance they experienced over Temple in the season opener.
Notre Dame’s other ACC road games – North Carolina and Miami – do not have set start times at this point.
Notre Dame play tough defense and play tough offense, always alert and play to be a champion : a win win team. Be great do great.
I try to find Don Criqui and Alan Pinkett on the air waves for this type of game.
It’s simple swarbrick takes no responsibility for Kelly’s failure; yet he is responsible.kelly can not generate the trust the love the commitment from his players to become champions. He just can’t do it. Swarbrick refuses to admit it.
Listen to a winner and you see the difference in a nano second.
