Tim Tebow Thinks Notre Dame is “A Little Over Rated”

Since it’s a slow week with Ball State on the schedule and there isn’t a whole lot to really get upset about, here’s a little bit to get everyone’ juices flowing today.  Yesterday Tim Tebow said on ESPN’s First Take that he thinks Notre Dame is “a little over rated”.

Here’s the clip that Tebow was kind enough to post to Twitter with the full text below.

“I’ve got to be honest, last week I was kind of shocked. I expected more from Michigan. I expected more from Shea Patterson. I expected more from their offense. Honestly, I thought it was kind of pathetic. I thought their effort was. All of their recruiting, their talent, and that’s the way you showed up against Notre Dame, who I also think is a little bit overrated?

Okay, so that was all fun and all hearing Tebow call Michigan pathetic, but then he had to throw in that little bit about Notre Dame being overrated.  He could have just given the Irish defense a little credit for a dominant performance, but he didn’t.

Maybe Timmy’s feelings are just hurt because he picked Michigan last week and then Notre Dame showed him how wrong he and all of the other analysts were about Michigan.  Or maybe, Tebow just doesn’t want to admit that maybe the Notre Dame defense is just that good.

Last week Tebow said “When’s the last time you could trust Notre Dame?” before picking Michigan.  To be honest, that is fair.  Until Notre Dame wins a major bowl game or makes it through a season without a Miami 2017 type loss, they will have to fight through that perception.  Last week’s win over Michigan should help to change that narrative, but to completely change it Notre Dame is going to need to win more big games this year – starting with Stanford on September 28.

The lack of respect for Notre Dame and feeding the narrative of Michigan losing more than Notre Dame winning should only help the Irish keep an edge to them over the next few weeks as they face the weakest stretch of their 2018 schedule between now and that showdown with the Cardinal.

The Notre Dame defense didn’t get much respect heading into the season.  No one talked about them as one of the best defenses in the country, but last week showed us that they very well may be.  Much like 2012, the defense and the team in general, is going to have to put together more performances like last week before the national pundits really take notice.

Notre Dame has a chance today to show they have an elite defense by shutting down Ball State and not letting this one be close.  Nothing they do against Ball State – even if they shut them out – will change the narrative this week, but if Notre Dame wants to be a real playoff contender they need to dominate teams like this and not let them hang around.

  1. Disturbing. Maybe this game was a letdown after the big win over Micigan. Ball State definitely came to play Saturday afternoon. To many subpar performances year in and year out by Notre Dame and Brian Kelly. After today, feels like this season will end as most have the past 20 plus years, and particularly under Kelly. LACKLUSTER. I yearn for the days when the Irish were a power.

  2. I’m watching PSU / Pitt now. I know my life will be the same regardless.

But I’ll continue to mock little Davie for as long as he wants to be mocked and abused. Live your destiny, troll!

You’re right about one thing, little Davie: I mock you like a champion!

    Too easy!!!

    Bwahahahaha!!!

  3. Surely Ball State deserves some serious consideration in the polls, giving a Top 10 team such fits at home….maybe they appear at 18 or 20 this week?

Bwa ha ha ha ha ha

    1. Surely, Nebraska deserves serious consideration in the polls, losing to an unranked team at home…. Maybe the appear at 18 or 20 this week?

See how easy it is to mock you, fool!

      Bwahahahahaha!

So much little Davie to smack around; so little time!

      1. I’m watching Stanford USC now. And my life will probably never be the same again if Stanford doesn’t win.
Mock like a champion. Live your destiny.

  4. David slew Goliath. I don’t know if he predicted that. We have our Davies and Jeff’s and others out there that had their big chance to predict the Cardinals to win. They of course boldly, cowardly went out of their way to pick the Wolverines to win. They are into moral victories. I thought getting close only counted in horse shoes.

  5. I suppose that playing a game against Michigan and winning that type of game against the supposed best defense in the country don’t count. All teams have a week were they are best up a little with that type of game. These kids have one heck of a school schedule and go out every week and do well. Fact is they won may have took them a little litely but every one expects notre dame to win every game and the ones not ranked 100 to nothing. 2-0 moving on

  6. “Go Huskers!”

Oops, little Davie, I guess that reveals how much you actually know about college football.

Who’s the masochist, now, troll boy?!

      1. To “Cheer, cheer for Ol’ Notre Dame,” win or lose!

Why do you pretend to watch college football in general and/or ND football in particular, little troll?!

You clearly have no actual knowledge of this game.

But you come back now, ya hear, little man! B _ _ _ h slapping you, little slappy, never gets old!

  7. This should have been a game where ND put this team away, fast and early. It did not happen and in fact, ND did a lot to let this team stay around that had no business staying around. To be considered an “upper echelon “ team, these are the games where you have to take care of business and ND did not. Any spin can be applied as to why this happened, but, the fact is ND beat a Ball St. team by only 8 points and had to work hard at doing that. This doesn’t inspire confidence for a fan of the Irish.

    1. I think the pollsters will rightly drop Notre Dame out of the top 10 after this game. Anyone talking about being in the national playoffs for this season may need to get their heads checked.

      1. Agreed, “Spicey.” Look at what the other top 10 teams did today. ND isn’t in the same galaxy as Bama, Ohio St., Clemson, UGa.

      1. Not too bad, little man.

        At least ND won.

        How did the Huskers do?!

        BCS, BCS, BCS for Nebraska!

  8. Great improvement on st’s this week, no runbacks for scores. Defense getting better, yielding a pointless than last week.

    1. I believe there are a lot of special players on this defense, but can they continue to hold the water for the offense? My level of optimism went down a few levels this week. The offense’s performance was really bad. ND has no right being ranked this high.

    2. wow..bsu takes ND down to the last possesion…brian kelly sucks out loud! So this is the guy who “knows how to run a program” he is a pathetic excuse of a head football coach.

  9. Notre Dame is holding on against Ball State as Ball State continues to outplay Notre Dame in the 4th Quarter. Notre Dame hasn’t looked this bad on offense for a long time. Without the two big runs, ND would probably be averaging around 2.5 yards a run. A lot needs to be evaluated, offensive tackles, starting talkback, and more importantly, starting QB. I think it is a no-brainer, Ian Book should be the starter.

  10. Wimbush got lucky with several throws last week too, including the touchdown to Finke.

Speaking of lucky, good thing for “illegal touching”

    1. They don’t get paid to openly root for Notre Dame. They call the game as they see it. I have no issue with this crew or any of the previous crews.

      1. Good for you!

Plenty of other real Irish fans see it differently.

I guess BC and USC color guys are indifferent about ND football, Jeff?

      2. You could have Theisman and Montana calling the game and it wouldn’t change a thing. Same old shitty performance by a Kelly led team. The TV crew had no bearing on the outcome of the game and never do. Not sure why you and a few others even care about the crews supposed bias against ND.

      3. Perhaps, Jeff, but I’d rather deal with them calling ND games than the haters like Hayden or Flutie flakes!

But you’re right about BK and this team’s performance.

      1. Little Davie talking about mental fragility, that’s a good one!

I see the internet is working well today at mom’s basement, little troll.

Like stealing candy from a little baby troll! It’s too easy, really, Davie. You must love being kicked around. Perhaps daddy issues, little Davie. Old man beat you up a lot?

  11. Regardless of the final score this is a Win for Ball St. and a Loss for ND. Kelly is a Fraud lol. Cant wait to here what Bruce has to say about the game.

  12. This game was a test for the offensive capabilities of Notre Dame for this upcoming season. The run game has had a few explosive plays, while most of the runs have been 3 yards or less. The offensive line has been very poor for most of this game. I’ll get to Wimbush soon, but the line hasn’t protected the QB well at all. Finally, Brandon Wimbush. Plain and simple, he isn’t the quarterback that Brian Kelly and Tommy Rees are trying to mold. Wimbush is tossing the ball around and missing his targets. The only route that is working is the crossing route over the middle. Wimbush is basically a running back trying to play quarterback.

    1. Kelly has failed in getting the right QB to run his offense. Plain and simple. Its frickn Notre Dame and Kelly cant get the right QB to run the offense. Notre Dame needs to do the same thing they did to Chucky Weis pay him to go away.

  13. No, it’s not masochism, troll. It’s called loyalty. A word not in your kindergarten lexicon.

But the Huskers look like Bama for sure. Just a wrecking ball!

So go to a Huskers site and bore people there, little boy.

Now, that ND has looked like garbage, well, can’t argue with that.

      1. I guess a crackhead would know!

        Bwahaha!

See how easy that is to match your moronic commentary, troll.

But you keep on coming for your assbeating. Who’s the masochist? Or maybe you just like taking it like that?!

        Bwahaha!

  14. I dont want to see Wimbush starting…. again this season. If this is what Ball State produces… then we have problems.

  15. If liars and fools are overrated, then little “Davie” must be the world’s smartest, richest, most powerful, best looking man in the world!

But truth is he just a little troll with no life.

BTW: The Huskers are crushing the Bufs, I see.

    1. Sure, BSU D is really the 70s “Steel Curtain” or 85 Bears D!

      Let’s not get ridiculous, George.

Wimbush is bad and the O line is overrated.

      1. No, just calling things like they are, little lady, “Davie”.

I wanted the Irish to put the game away.

        But they can’t.

Both are true. You know, little girl, two things can be true at once.

  16. GK,

Please don’t give “Davie” any ammo. No one sneaks into S. Bend! This is an old song we’ve heard sung in this stadium too much.

How many heavy underdogs have snuck into S. Bend lately? Too many!

  17. Well, let’s admit it, BS playing the game of their lives, nothing to lose. They snuck in like the Trojan horse, no one suspecting. Then to see a former South Bend product bulked up former tight end almost score. Wimbush will start packing the ball . No need to panic. And for sure as Tillery would get his sack for the day, game over. #6 of Cardinals should have been kicked out for extra late hit on Wimbush.

  18. Wait a minute, I thought little man “Davie” didn’t watch the games?

Or is it that this troll has nothing better to do with his sorry excuse for a life that he can find nothing better than trolling on here without even watching the games?

Which one is it, little troll, “Davie”? Do you watch the games or are you just a little b _ _ _h troll?!

  19. Halftime in Lincoln. That game is entertaining….they seem to have optimism and support for their coach.
And he hasn’t even been doing this for 28 years.

How’s it going here? Top Ten stuff?
    Bwa hah a

    1. BK era football personified this half of football!

Would Bama, Clemson, Ohio St., or any real contender look like this against BSU?!

This is gutless football by ND. Period! Bottom line! Case closed!

Wimbush can’t play QB. Period! Bottom line! Case closed!

      1. i would just like to thank brian kelly for putting ND into a shithole for the last 9 years. throws EVERYONE under the bus. this guy is a joke and half..fire kelly, fire swarbrick, fire jenkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Pot calling the kettle black, there, poor little troll “Davie-boy”!

I see that you still can’t contribute anything intelligent.

I bet your’re a hit on the playground of your elementary school, though. Your comebacks must really scare the little girls, tough guy!

  20. SFR, after first ez td I was ready to go out and rake the lawn. Game to watch is tonight’s future opponents, Cardinal ripping the Trojans a new one. Wimbush is having one of those days. Playing like a pick up game in the school yard.

  21. SFR, ND should be ahead if our heads were in this game 21-0 by now. Viewership would sure go down. As soon as their first fu they will take their ball and go home.

  22. GK,

We’ve all sadly seen ND over the last twenty years struggle against these kinds of opponents in S. Bend.

The longer BS sticks around the upset ghosts haunt this stadium!

  23. There are a lot of people out there who think ND is overrated and rightly so. If ND can beat Va Tech and USC on the road late in the season with playoff spots on the line then I will change my stance but until then lets see how it plays out. The defense is solid for sure but depth could eventually be an issue. The offense is not even close to elite. Special teams is FCS quality.Long time fan of ND but don’t care for the HC. To conservative and soft. Never able to put teams away when the opportunity arises. As far as Tebow goes he was better than any QB Kelly has brought in.

  24. “David” yep, a good College player makes a good
analyst. That is like saying you make sense because you can type.

  25. If you watched last week and thought Nd played a good game, you are a homer. All that win last week did was earn them their top 12 ranking. ND is ranked 8 now but thatbis just creating hype for the future disappointment of 3 losses.

  26. Tim Tebow was a great player but he’s not so
good as a Commentator of football. Notre
Dame is not over rated, more like under rated.
There are several teams in the top ten that are over rated Alabama being the biggest one.
Alabama has the weakest schedule of the top ten. The other teams that are over rated are
    Georgia, Washington, Oklahoma and Alburn.
They all have weak schedules. Notre Dame
has one of the toughest schedule of the top
ten. So Maybe Tim needs to think about that.

    1. What coach are you dumping this week. You would fit in perfectly with Philly news. The whole staff picked Falcons over Eagles.

  27. Well I believe there is a lot of over rated team
in the top ten and Notre Dame is not one of
    them. Alabama, Georgia, Alburn, Washington
and Oklahoma have very weak schedules. This is why Alabama is always ranked in the top 3. They go undefeated because they have a weak schedule.
Notre Dame don’t have the strongest schedule but it’s stronger then most.

  28. Speaking of overrated, and not just a “little overrated”, meet Tim Tebow.
The latest leak from the WH:
“What Tim Tebow thinks + $3 = $3 worth of gas.”

  29. Tebow, a football commentator? Thought he was a minor league baseball player. Lee “ Hunchback” Corso former roomer with Burt Reynolds knows what’s going on.
