The official Notre Dame Football twitter feed has sent Notre Dame fans into a bit of a frenzy tonight with a tweet that more than hints at an alternate uniform unveil tomorrow. Here it is if you haven’t seen it.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone if Notre Dame unveils some sort of new uniform tomorrow. There is not a Shamrock Series game this fall, but you know there will be some 3rd uniform. Two years ago Notre Dame wore the Rockne throwbacks for the Navy game on Senior Day and last year the Irish wore green uniforms for Florida State’s visit on Senior Day 2018.
There are ALWAYS moans and groans among some in the Notre Dame fan base for alternative uniforms, but wearing them for Boston College, albeit on Senior Day, is sure to cause even more of a stir. Again, assuming that’s what tonight’s tweet is all about.
Some still have not forgotten the unfortunate green jerseys wore by the 2002 Fighting Irish during Tyrone Willingham’s magical start to his career at Notre Dame. Willingham and the Irish were never the same after that game, and some still blame those green jerseys for Notre Dame’s bout with fumbilities that day.
Since Under Armour has become the official uniform supplier for Notre Dame, they have done a pretty good job in not going too crazy with the third uniforms for the most part. There hasn’t been anything quite like those 2012 Shamrock Series uniforms that the Irish wore against Miami in Soldier Field. But there were those Yankee inspired uniforms last year that left something to be desired.
Considering Frank Leahy coached at both Notre Dame and Boston College and the tweet tonight says they are taking it back to a classic, some sort of Leahy Era theme should be expected. That would fall in line with the Rockne throwbacks two years ago too.
Uniforms morph into costumes.
Teenage princesses, stay tuned!
maybe a new helmet…VICIS
