Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman was on Sports Center with Scott Van Pelt earlier this week talking about the upcoming season – his second as a head coach for Notre Dame.
- Freeman admitted to not having all the experience of the coaches he will face but feels last year was invaluable in preparing him for this season.
- He said that the staff does a deep dive on every potential transfer to make sure that they will fit into the culture of the program.
- He specifically referenced quarterback Sam Hartman and noted that Hartman has fit in so well, so fast, that he was voted a team captain.
- Said that he is in lockstep with outgoing AD Jack Scwarbrick on all of the realignment news. He also gave Swarbrick props for the way he’s handled the recent expansion.
- Freeman interestingly admitted that ND could be forced into a conference at some point but reiterated Notre Dame loves its independence and relationship with ACC
- Briefly talked about how the Navy game is the most important game for Notre Dame because it’s the next game even though he Irish have some monster games later this season, including the showdown with Ohio State.
