Damien Thigpen, a late name for Notre Dame this year after being told by new Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin that he didn’t fit into their scheme, will be announcing his college decision and signing a letter of intent on Wednesday according to the Washington Post.
Stonewall Jackson senior running back Damien Thigpen will sign an letter-of-intent on Wednesday but it won’t be to Tennessee, the school he verbally committed to last year.
Thigpen’s coach at Stonewall, Mike Dougherty, sent me an e-mail this morning, stating: “Damien Thigpen has changed his choice of colleges and will be signing this Wednesday.”
Thigpen visited UCLA this past and never visited Notre Dame so it would be a bit of an upset for the Irish to win this one. It’s tough to get a commitment from a prospect who has never visited, but it has happened before and as recently as two years ago. Kerry Neal, a North Carolina native, committed to Notre Dame in the very early stages of the Class of 2007 without ever stepping foot on campus.
He is going to UCLA.
