Te’o Announcement Set, USC Considered Leader?

Manti Te’o will be announcing his college decision at 1PM ET tomorrow and according to Greg Biggins of ESPN, USC is considered the clear leader for his services.

USC fans shouldn’t mourn too long however as at 1 p.m. ET Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii) linebacker Manti Te’o will make his college choice. At this time, it would have to be considered a major surprise if Te’o ends up anywhere other than USC.

Te’o has called the Trojans his dream school and the belief was always that he would wind up at SC or BYU. The linebacker shocked many in recent weeks when he cut BYU and Stanford off his list and narrowed his choices to USC, Notre Dame and UCLA.

Te’o took all five of his visits and there is sincere interest in both Notre Dame and UCLA. The family loves the academics and tradition in South Bend and the Norm Chow connection was a big plus for the Bruins.

There’s a lot of mixed reports out there on Te’o right now and it seems each side in this fight feels pretty confident in their chances.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Charlie Weis put a ton of time and effort in recruiting Te’o and if he comes up short on Wednesday, one thing he won’t be short of his criticism considering the lack of numbers on the defensive side of the ball this year.

  1. Let’s see how long before LOSING gets OLD?. I am sure he pick N.D over U.S.C because he could just show up on game day and WIN the starting job, something he would not likely do at U.S.C. untill maybe his second year. But i still wish him good luck.

  2. Its all about $ at U$C but who knows what this kid will do tomarrow. I hope he choses ND. Weis is a good recruiter. I am hoping that those good classes come full circle this year.

  3. If anyone were to come down hard on Weis for losing Te’o to U$C they are an idiot. Even if we come in 2nd place for his services that right there shows how great of a recruiter Charlie is to be in the discussion for a star from Honolulu. Thats big in my eyes.

Te’o is a phoney individual if he picks U$C in my eyes. I thought he was a class kid with such high standing morales and character? If that were the case BYU, ND, UCLA, and Stanford should be the schools he’s looking at not scum bag U.

Clausen said it himself. No one on U$C has any respect for what ND is all about. How will his deep mormon faith be able to grow in a frat boy/ghetto campus in L.A.?

  4. Yeah, but even if we don’t get Te’o I hope people don’t start pointing fingers at Weis. He gave it his all on two garbage knees to try to get this kid. He recruited Te’o the hardest from what I have heard.
