Saint Thomas Aquinas cornerback Cody Riggs favors Notre Dame and Florida State according to ESPN.
Riggs lists FSU and Notre Dame one and two on his favorites, followed by Wisconsin, Florida and Alabama, and he’ll compete with the other top prospects in South Florida at the Miami Nike Camp on March 29th.
Riggs is a speedster at cornerback with 4.3 speed and in 2008, Riggs set a Saint Thomas Aquinas record with 8 interceptions. After only signing EJ Banks in the defensive backfield in 2009, Notre Dame will need to do well at both corner and safety this year. Given Notre Dame’s success recruiting Saint Thomas Aquinas players in the past, Riggs would be a great start at corner should Weis and the staff be able to get Riggs in the fold early.
Here is some video of Riggs via YouTube.

Riggs breaks on the ball very well and is explosive with the ball in his hands in the open field. Riggs plays a lot of man coverage in the video and sticks with his man rather easily. He also makes pretty good plays on the ball while it’s in the air. One thing the video doesn’t show a whole lot of though is Riggs playing press coverage. At 5’9″, 160, Riggs’s size could lead to some problems matching up with bigger, physical wide receivers early on his college career. Still, his skill and potential is pretty evident in the video and his offer list backs that up as well.
