Notre Dame’s search for another defensive tackle for the #GoldenArmy14 took a positive turn on Monday after an in-home visit with Washington state native, 4-star DT Marcus Griffin. That in-house visit went well enough for Griffin to line up an official visit with Notre Dame this weekend.
Notre Dame Came For A In Home Visit Tonight @CoachMikeElston! Looks Like I Will Be Heading To SouthBend This Weekend For A Visit #GoIrish

Griffin has had a busy couple of days on the recruiting front. He officially visited Cal this past weekend and in addition to hosting Notre Dame on Monday, Griffin had coaches from Mississippi State and Washington State come by as well.
Great In Home Visit With Mississippi State. Had A Lot Of Fun Talking Ball With @CoachCollins!! Excited For My Visit On The 31st #HailState

The important news for Notre Dame fans though is that Griffin will be making the trip to South Bend this weekend for an official visit. Right now he is the only official visitor lined up for this weekend, but Notre Dame will have both Justin Brent and Andrew Trumbetti, their two early enrollees, on campus. Notre Dame will also be hosting Daniel Cage, a 3-star DT, for a mid-week visit this week.
Griffin has not yet been officially offered a scholarship by Notre Dame, but the SBT’s Tyler James reported tonight that Notre Dame only received Griffin’s transcripts tonight and an offer is likely just a formality at this point.
No offer yet for '14 DT Marcus Griffin, who says #NotreDame just received his transcripts tonight. Seems like it will come eventually.

Considering Griffin set up an official visit Monday night for four days from now, that would appear to be the case. It would also appear to be the case that Griffin has legit and serious interest in the Irish.
Notre Dame has been searching for another defensive tackle in this year’s class since Matt Dickerson decommitted almost two weeks to be closer to home after finding out his father was diagnosed with cancer. The Notre Dame staff has done a great job identifying new targets like Griffin at DT and moving quickly to secure official visits.
To bad we are scrambling for DT’s at this time of year. Would love to get 2 but who knows. If Dickerson stays committed do we still go after all these guys? I say no, but think we should have been taking 3 potential DT ‘s this year from the beginning. I know it seems like a lot of DT’s to take, but the number just aren’t there. We are a couple injuries away from disaster up front next year. Guess it couldn’t get any worse then this year though. Go irish. Oh yeah and…Seems like an easy choice Marcus.
And with Kona gone, he can have #96, and not have to even change his twitter tag.
That, a world class education, and abundant need at DL!
Marcus, come on in!
You have to realize too that some of those “OLB” guys can move down and put their hand down to play end as well if they switch back to the 4 man front! Making the “dline” depth less empty than it appears.
This is promising news. You can never have too many defensive linemen, particularly if ND is going to utilize a 4 man front
This class needs Dlineman. If they can get Cage, Griffin and the Decommit from Vandy that would be 4 Dlineman and an excellent haul
Not being negative, I don’t see us getting more than two. And that would be good luck. Maybe Sawyer and Griffin, but that would be very fortunate.
I would be happy if they just got Griffin. Anything more would be a bonus. Having to rely on guys like Utopo next year concerns me.
