Just yesterday we posted that 4-star defensive end Julian Okwara, brother of current Notre Dame rising senior Romeo Okwara, cut his list of schools to five. It didn’t take him too long to decide that list would be cut to one in the near future. Okwara will be announcing a commitment to one of those schools on April 30th.

Before announcing he would be committing at the end of the month, Okwara cut his list of schools down to Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Clemson in no particular order. Given his recent unofficial visit to Notre Dame and his family ties to the program though, Notre Dame fans have to feel pretty good about the Irish’s chances here.
247 Sports’ Crystal Ball should give Notre Dame fans some confidence that the Irish will be the recipient of Okwara’s commitment on the 30th since it is pointing 100% to Notre Dame currently. As we all know all too well in recruiting though, there is no such thing as a sure thing so the Notre Dame coaching staff will surely be working hard on Okwara until his commitment and then even following it.
Notre Dame is in need of pass rushers and Okwara fits the mold. Brian Kelly mentioned yesterday that Notre Dame currently doesn’t have one of those dominant pass rushers that could rack up 15 sacks in a season, but they have a group of players who will all contribute to give Notre Dame the pass rush they need.
The younger Okwara unofficially visited Notre Dame at the end of March and took in some of Notre Dame’s spring practice in addition to touring the campus. The pictures below are from that trip via Okwara’s Twitter account.
