The Notre Dame recruiting train continues to steam ahead after the Irish picked up yet another commitment from an Irish Invasion visitor – wide receiver Michael Young. Notre Dame beat out Young’s other finalists of Texas A&M and Oregon for their latest class of 2017 commitment.

Young who projects as a slot wide receiver for Notre Dame saw his stock skyrocket this spring after his performance at a Nike Opening event. Following his performance, Young started picking up a number of high profile offers like Notre Dame and Oregon. In addition to Young’s finalists, the Louisiana native held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Missouri, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Young hoped to continue hat momentum at the Irish Invasion last month, but an injury kept Young from participating in drills. It didn’t, however, prevent Young from enjoying a visit that shot the Irish to the top of his his list of suitors.
Young’s commitment is the 5th overall commitment Notre Dame has received from Irish Invasion visitors joining fellow 2017 recruits Jordan Pouncey, Robert Hainsey, CJ Holmes, and Jonathon MacCollister and 2018 running back Markese Stepp.
Notre Dame now has 17 commitments in their Class of 2017 with the addition of Michael Young. Of those 17 commitments, the Irish have at least two wide receivers depending on where a couple of recruits end up playing. Young is exclusively a receiver, but Paulson Adebo and Jordan Pouncey are both athletes that could play either receiver or end up in the defensive backfield. Some think safety Isaiah Robertson could play wide receiver on the college level as well.
With 17 commitments on board Notre Dame has moved into the top 5 of the 247Sports Team Rankings.
Michael Young Highlights
I just can’t believe the blocking ability of this young man. I’ve never seen a receiver block like him.
Nice to see a wide receiver who likes to play rough.
