Notre Dame’s disappointing weekend on the field didn’t completely ruin what was a huge recruiting weekend for Notre Dame off the field. Weekend visitor Donovan Jeter, a 4-star DE, committed to Notre Dame on Monday over the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State.

Jeter visited Notre Dame officially this weekend and following the visit, he moved his commitment announcement plans from Halloween to today. Needless to say, Notre Dame knocked the visit out of the park despite coming up short against Michigan State.
Jeter is ranked as the #15 strong side defensive end by 247Sports and then #8 ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania – a state that is producing an abundance of recruits in Notre Dame’s class of 2017.
Notre Dame landed itself an elite defensive lineman by picking up Jeter. The Pennsylvania native held offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, Michigan State, and Ohio State. He joins Jonathon MacCollister as defensive ends in the class of 2017 for Notre Dame.
Based on the play of the Notre Dame defense this year, adding an elite defensive prospect is a huge addition for the Irish. Notre Dame is loading up on defense in this class and is putting together one of its strongest and most balanced defensive classes under Brian Kelly. The Irish have three defensive linemen, three linebackers, and two defensive backs.
Notre Dame now has 18 commitments for 2017 with five of them originally hailing from the Keystone state. Jeter joins David Adams, Josh Lugg, Kurt Hinish, and Robert Hainsey. Hainsey now lives in Florida and plays for IMG Academy but the elite offensive guard is from Pennsylvania originally.
It seems to me that notredames talent is better than what their performance is on the field. If I was Kelly I would revamp the coaching staff. Dump Booker and vangcorder .8 Bring in the best young special teams coach in the country and the best d coordinator available. Then put denbrock in charge of all receivers and let Sanford have complete control of the offense.
27 years and counting has a point. However, this kid does have a nose for the ball. We need more bruisers on that D line. This certainly was some good news when we needed it!
GO IRISH
Seriously, just saw his highlight tape. Ho-hum. Didn’t see him knocking down blockers to get into the backfield. Saw him pretty much step into the BF and wait for the play to come to him. Looks like what our ‘rushers’ look like today.
After the last two losses and the mediocre defensive performance this month, every defensive recruit we get will help. A guy like Jeter, should revamp a pass rush that has been lacking since the days of Justin Tuck. Now if we can only get a coach that can utilize every defensive player’s skill set. This last weekend has me feeling very anti-BVG. Van Gorder has had three years to get this defense going and once again we’re getting gashed and thrashed through the air and on the ground. Van Gorder needs to go now!! It was painful to watch our defense get ripped to shreds this last weekend. Of course I’m optimistic for great things to come. Go Irish Go!!
They call Him, ” Mellow Yellow” !
