Notre Dame easily moved to 1-0 on the season with a 74-62 win over Miami (OH). The Irish were led by Jerian Grant’s 26 point outburst on opening night. The Fighting Irish only led by 7 at the midway point, but stretched the lead throughout the 2nd half. Eric Atkins added 10 points and 6 assists in the win.

One exciting thing for this year will be to see the Irish play teams they haven’t played much before.
On the other hand, I don’t expect much difference from ND unless Brey makes dramatic changes to his coaching style. They’ll continue to live off the 3 point shots or the burn offense. And he’ll exhaust his starters by the time they get to the NCAA tournament. That’s probably the most frustrating part. They’re good enough to almost always get to the tournament, but then they lost in the 1st or 2nd round, many times to a team they have no business losing too.
But even still, it’ll be fun to watch them play against NC, Duke, Boston College and the other teams in the ACC. And I’ll hope they make a good run in the tournament.
Hopefully the Irish excite this year.
