Notre Dame’s regular season ended with a disappointing four game losing streak that featured losses to Northwestern, Louisville, Arizona State, and a shellacking at the hands of arch rival USC. The Irish losing streak came to a screeching halt on Tuesday evening in Nashville, however, when Kyle Brindza nailed a 33 yard field goal as time expired for a 31-28 victory over LSU.
Here are all of the highlights from Notre Dame’s 3rd bowl victory under the guidance of Brian Kelly as the Irish ended the season 8-5 to mark the 5th consecutive season they have finished with at least 8 victories.
Impressed with Zaire on many levels. We found out he can pass the ball pretty well, and he proved to be a good blocker on a critical play. Also, even when the defense blew a coverage that resulted in LSU TD’s you can see the defenders never gave up. They chased downfield for everything they were worth. That never quit attitude is important for any team. They don’t give up.
Also, I noted before, I was impressed with EG’s role. He too was an important part of this win, and I believe he still can have something to contribute to this team.
Zaire runs like a fullback and can pass like a QB. Beyond that, he was amazingly poised with all the pressure he was under in his first start, versus an elite D’ in a bowl game..Throw in Golson’s poise completing key passes, especially on the winning drive, and ND now knows they have star power at QB times two. How BK and staff maximize their talents next season (it was great to see MZ roll out), as the staff’s prep did so well today, could make for a dominant O.’ Kudos to the OL for their best game of the year.
