Notre Dame returned to practice on Wednesday after a week long break for the 10th practice of Spring football 2015. The Irish were forced indoors as they head head into the final stretch of spring ball. In today’s practice video from the folks at WatchND, the quarterbacks, receivers, and special teams were the focus.
Before getting into the video, here are some notes:
- Everett Golson looked really sharp throwing the ball. The passes WatchND showed in the video below were some absolute lasers. Malik Zaire, meanwhile, threw a beautifully placed deep bomb to Will Fuller that landed right in Fuller’s bread basket.
- Chris Brown, Amir Carlisle, and Will Fuller were the first team wide receivers that were focused on. Jac Collinsworth had some high, high praise for Chris Brown saying that the senior could be the best player on the Irish offense. Considering the year Will Fuller had last year, that would be a huge improvement for Brown.
- Durham Smythe was mentioned as the first team tight end and later in the day Brian Kelly said that Smythe was the clear cut #1 tight end for the Irish.
- Greg Bryant and Will Fuller were the only two players shown fielding punts, but it would be a surprise if freshman CJ Sanders wasn’t in the mix come fall camp. Given the little depth the Irish have at running back, it would also be a surprise to me if Bryant fielded many (maybe any) punts this year. Notre Dame simply can’t afford to lose Bryant.
