Watch: Matt Farrell Drains 10 3’s on Boston College in Irish Win

Notre Dame needed a win on Saturday to keep any hopes of sneaking into the NCAA Tournament alive.  Matt Farrell responded with the best game of his career and one of the all-time great shooting performances in Notre Dame basketball history.  Farrell drained 10 of 12 three point attempts against Boston College in Notre Dame’s 84-67 victory.

With the win, Notre Dame improved to 16-11 on the season with three winnable games on the horizon – vs. Miami, @ Wake Forest, and vs. Pittsburgh – before closing out the season on the road versus #1 ranked Virginia.

The Irish were playing without freshman DJ Harvey who was expected to return from injury yesterday.  Harvey tweaked his knee, however, and will need to be reevaluated.  Harvey will now reportedly not be available for at least another week.

The win gave Notre Dame a season sweep of Boston College.

  1. Oops, should have won this one at home, back to NIT. But, it’s Notre Dame and should get in NCAA with strength of schedule; Bethel etc.

    1. Yeah, unfortunately an NIT is the best we can hope for I think. The only chance at an NCAA tournament bid at the point would be for them to get to the ACC Championship game.

Depending on how the last 3 games play out though, if they have an early first or second round exit out of the ACC playoffs, they may not even get into the NIT.

  2. I think Mike Brey is doing his best coaching job ever rising to the challenge of these injuries and using more than 7 players in every game. Way to go coach and GO IRISH!

  3. Irish hangi’n in there. Need 3 wins to finish 19-12. Starting with Miami tonight ESPN. I’m assuming a loss to #1 Virginia in final season schedule—but a close game will look good on resume to the NCAA selection committee. The ACC TOURNAMENT – Irish need a run here — perhaps 2 wins to impress NCAA. Word is out that Harvey and Colson will be back off injury list —ready to go for ACC Tournament.

    1. With the development of Mooney and Djogo the return of Colson and Harvey ND could be a very dangerous team in March.
