Notre Dame opened its 2018 season with a 24-17 victory over the 14th ranked Michigan Wolverines in front of a crowd decked out in green. The Irish jumped out to 21-3 lead in the second quarter before holding on to a 24-17 win with a strip sack by Khalid Kareem recovered by Tevon Coney in the final minute.
Defense led the way for Notre Dame while the offense had its moments against the staunch Michigan defense. Brandon Wimbush completed 12 of 22 passes for 170 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 INT. The Irish committed to running the football against the stingy Wolverine D and kept with it all game. Notre Dame ran the ball 47 times but gained just 132 yards in the process. They didn’t need the ground game to do more thanks to the defense though.
We”ll have plenty more on this one but for now, enjoy the highlights and the fact that Michigan is 0-1 while Notre Dame is sitting at 1-0.
Nice win against a good not great Michigan team. Time will tell but I do believe Notredames defense is very good. Could they hold down a great offense? Who knows
. Special teams needs work. The bad punt and kick return kept Michigan in the game. Finally,Wimbush looked better but still needs to be more accurate on the short to mid throws.
