Notre Dame Highlights: #3 Irish Cruise Past Navy 44-22

Notre Dame improved to 8-0 for the first time since 2012 on Saturday night with a 44-22 victory over Navy in San Diego.  The Irish jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead before allowing Navy to move the ball with some ease in the second half, but still managed to cruise to a 22 point victory over a team that has played Notre Dame close the last five years.

Notre Dame scored six touchdowns with Dexter Williams leading the way with three on the ground, Ian Book adding two passing scores to Miles Boykin, and Jafar Armstrong adding another on the ground.  Jonathan Doerer kicked his first career field goal after getting off to a shaky start by missing the first PAT of the game and looking shaky on the second.

Jalen Elliott sealed the game with a late interception although all the pick really did was preserve a 20+ point victory to make things look a little better in the boxscore.

As always we will have plenty of more on this game, but for now enjoy the highlights.

  1. Book and receivers looking great on zip passing. Especially the ones to Finke and Austin. And the 3 studs, Boykin, Claypool, Kmet.

  2. Hope Bilal and Tranqual are okay. Notredame can not afford more injuries.Another big challenge next week. Northwestern like all teams will come at Notredame hard.I agree with Kelly when he said the run game needs to get to the point of being successful running the ball when your opponent knows you are going to run it. Also I really like Armstrong in the passing game but he has a ways to go as a running back. Did you notice after Notredame fumbled the only time they punted in the first half is when they went 3 and out with only Armstrong in the backfield on their own 12 yard line. He carried twice for 2 yards. He doesn’t yet have the instincts of a running back.
